Recently I created the piece above. It's called Fallen Angel. This journal entry is meant to be a way for me to reflect on the thing I just did. That being said, it might be raw, I'm trying to Catch glimpses in my process and I felt that it might be helpful to other artists. The textures of the wings and dress was the easy part. Though the face was hard to nail. This isn't surprising. It's the hardest thing for me to do. Mostly do to the left eye being higher on the face then the right. Visual Library. Something that is important to think about. The above video is very good at describing the concept of a visual library. Pretty much its the visual things you have seen and can pull from when your trying to make that alien ship or bad-ass dragon. It's the reason why you should draw from life. In high school and collage my teachers would always harp about 'drawing from life'. I am not trying to degrade this advise or my teachers by using a word such as harp. The Above Video is from Artist and YOUTuber sinixdesign. He gives some fantastic advice about how to approach drawing. Inspiring me to go into my sketchbook and have some fun. I also have to recommend his drawing faces tutorial. It's a straight forward guide. It doesn't teach a step by step tutorial, though more of an illustrated guide on how to think and execute what you want to show on paper or a Photoshop file (for that matter).
